Meet Larry Mulvaney, DDS
Larry Mulvaney, DDS, joins Northwestern Dental Group, with offices in Niles, Vernon Hills, Skokie, Gurnee, Arlington Heights, Deerfield, and Hawthorne Commons, Illinois, with more than 30 years of expertise in general, cosmetic, and implant dentistry.
At the University of Illinois Dental School in Chicago, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery, Dr. Mulvaney started his career. After graduating, Dr. Mulvaney worked as a periodontist extern at Northwestern Dental School in Chicago. He then went on to Keller Graduate School in Bellevue, Washington, where he received his Master of Business Administration.
Dr. Mulvaney also earned degrees from the MISCH International Implant Prosthetic Program and the implant and prosthetic program at New York University prior to starting his own practice. A year-long advanced implant surgery and anesthesia program was also completed by him at the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan.
Due to his vast expertise, Dr. Mulvaney can do several procedures under IV or conscious sedation in a single visit. Dr. Mulvaney is a fully licensed IV sedation specialist who can make patients more comfortable during lengthy, difficult oral operations.
As a dental implant specialist, Dr. Mulvaney is also an authority on bone grafting and sinus lifts. He regularly works with men and women to ensure the success of their dental implants.
Dr. Mulvaney broadens his professional knowledge when he isn’t interacting with patients or creating treatment plans. He routinely speaks at industry meetings on implant dentistry and related operations. He actively participates in ongoing training and education to guarantee that his patients have access to the most recent technologies and surgical procedures.
Dr. Mulvaney holds membership in the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Chicago Dental Association, the Illinois Dental Association and is a general member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He is also a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiologists.

Meet Dr. Phimon Atsawasuwan
Dr. Phimon Atsawasuwan is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Diplomate for the American Board of Orthodontics.
The Eastman Dental Institute in London, England, and Mahidol University in Bangkok are where Dr. Atsawasuwan earned his M.S. in Periodontology and his Doctor of Dental Surgery, respectively. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Ph.D. in oral biology and a postdoctoral degree in biochemistry, Dr. Atsawasuwan continued his education there. Dr. Atsawasuwan obtained his M.S. in oral sciences as well as his certificate in orthodontics from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Over 50 peer-reviewed scientific and clinical research articles, case reports, and two book chapters have been written by Dr. Atsawasuwan. The NIH, UIC College of Dentistry, American Association of Orthodontists Foundation, as well as the corporate sector, all provide funding for his research program on the mechanics behind tooth movement. Dr. Atsawasuwan has given lectures on bone biology and orthodontic tooth movement both domestically and abroad. He has received numerous teaching and research honors from the American Association of Orthodontists, University of Illinois at Chicago, and University of North Carolina. Many clinical and scientific peer-reviewed journals use Dr. Atsawasuwan as a reviewer.
In both adolescent and adult patients, Dr. Atsawasuwan focuses his treatment on evidence-based clinical orthodontics and efficient tooth-movement techniques. His treatment objective is to achieve healthy, cosmetic, and long-term results. He has a foundation in orthodontics and has received dual training in periodontics. He treats his patients with the most recent advancements in dentofacial orthopedics and orthodontics. He likes watching movies, traveling, and sampling the diverse cuisines in the Chicagoland region.
